Educational work in Plast is your contribution to the development of conscious Ukrainian youth by your own example and experience. You can become an educator at any age!

WHO ARE "PLAST EDUCATORS"?

MENTORS

From the first steps in Plast, educators are the ones who guide children from the age of 6 to 11, who begin their Plast journey, introduce them to the idea and principles of the organization, and help them to go through the trial training program (a graduated system of gaining knowledge in Plast) step by step.

EXAMPLE

Over time, children get older and start to realize their own projects, take responsibility for their journeys and campaigns, and cooperate with others. They take an example from their educators and try to be like them in their accomplishments.

FRIENDS

All Plast members are mates between themselves, but the most valuable thing for each of us is to have an educator as a friend. When your friendship is strengthened by years of experience and adventures, it becomes even stronger.

WHO AM I GOING TO WORK WITH?

Educational units (age categories) in Plast are:

  • Little birds (2-6 years old), who join the scouting activities with their parents and are just beginning to get acquainted with Plast in a playful way;
  • Cub scouts (7-10 years old) are already learning to be independent and attend the meetings without their parents. They are tutored by experienced educators (named: brothers and sisters);
  • Scouts (11-17 years old) are involved in the magic of scouting within tent camps, learn to create their own projects and activities, and take on various roles. Scouting is about growth, development, and great opportunities! But all of this is possible only with the help of a good educator who has necessary skills.

A STEP INTO THE BIG GAME

Both those who have already completed the Plast program as an educator and have reached the age of 18 and those who joined Plast as adults and are just exploring the Big Game at a specialized training session KVDCh can become educators.

 

Both volunteers do not become educators right away - they first undergo specialized training for the unit in which they plan to work with children.

 

The VPP is for little birds, the ROV is for cub scouts, and KVV is for scouts.

 

The training for educators consists of theoretical (2-3 days) and practical parts and provides not only a knowledge base, but also support from other educators and exchange of experience.

My educators Kurka (Artem Dymyd) and Opir (Kostyk Honchar) contributed to the development of my personality. Self-balance, critical thinking, mutual respect, dignity - these traits were passed on to me by my educators in different ways.

 

I express my gratitude through my work with my own scout hurtok. Through teamwork, challenges, games, and communication, these young boys are strengthening their minds, bodies, and characters. My role in this process is to help, guide, and support.

 

Plast, through its educators, forms conscious citizens who form a conscious society. This is how I see my mission as an educator. Besides, it's fun!

In addition to training, new educators receive full guidance from Plast members on their volunteer path.

They also have the opportunity to undergo an " apprenticeship" - a kind of "trial period" in a hurtok or riy of an experienced educator to gain knowledge, try to conduct the meeting on their own and gain confidence to work with their future wards.

I actually thought about the decision to lead cub scouts for about a month, maybe two. I was worried that it would be difficult, requiring a lot of responsibility and time. Now I realize that, in fact, it's not so frightening.

 

Actually, you get a lot in return from children - they teach you a lot. Especially patience. If you can organize 10 ten-year-olds, then there will be no problems with communication with older people.

 

I don't think they should be perfect and I don't expect them to be, because it's impossible. They are just children, and you learn alongside them, and they also learn with you.
